Where did you first hear about the White Rhino?
I remember seeing White Rhinos on "Wild Kingdom" ... about 35 years ago! I didn't know there was a subspecies, the Northern White Rhino, that was on the verge of extinction - and is now believed to be extincted (June 2008). Fortunately, conservation efforts have brought White Rhino numbers to around 14,000.
